EP Somnambule du Jour based on poems by Anise Koltz. Released in April 2021. CONCEPT Anise Koltz's poems, taken from the collection Somnambule de jour (Prix Goncourt 2012), are constructed without any historical or contextual references: they take place in an atemporal atmosphere that draws on the unconscious of archaic archetypes. As Anise Koltz writes in the preface to the collection: “(...) impulses or breakthroughs of the subconscious from the depths of the ages merge with the conscious. (...) the poem may therefore contain a projection of a reality that does not yet exist and may never exist". There is a quest to put the reality around us into perspective with our inner world. The music that can support and enhance these texts must itself be carried by this connection to the ages, to the dream world and to the reality of our times.
MAFALDA is a duo between the singer Augustine Simon and the guitarist Marwan Hemma. Their name comes from the emblematic comic strip Quino's and they keep the jovial and spicy spirit to interpret traditional songs and personal compositions. Lulled by the rhythms of the Zamba, the Milonga, the Chacarera or the Solea and the Habanera, they make these songs their own and offer a very personal programme that speaks of passionate love, homeland, nature and freedom. Augustine and Marwan arrange and aestheticize this repertoire with their classical sounds and techniques to give it a new form. They were in residence at Maison-Matrice in September 2021 to refine their music and to perform at Villammont (Lausanne), the Yehudi Menuhin Forum (Bern), FYM (Basel) and Casa Fiorita (Corseaux), among others.
